Your fitness doesn't have to look like anyone else's....

I've been thinking a lot about my own fitness journey and how it has evolved over the years. We are bombarded with the latest fad diet or new wave of  workout routines and instantly feel like what we are doing is inferior because it's not what's "in" at the moment. I think what I'm trying to say is not all health and wellness routines are a one size fits all approach. You've got to try different things out and see what works for YOU.

Don't fall into the diet lie. The lie that you have to be on a diet to lose weight. I honestly get offended when people make comments to me like "what diet are you on? You must be on a diet because you look fit." I know 99.9% of the time it's coming from a good place but hear me out... A diet implies that you are eating in a specific way to lose weight with an end date or goal (usually aesthetic) in mind and typically in one way or another restricting certain foods or calories. We need to change the way we think about our eating habits and diets. Eating clean and making choices that fuel your body is not a diet... it should be a way of life just like brushing your teeth. As Americans, our view of what meals look like are so skewed and why wouldn't they be??! We are hit with so much conflicting information it's overwhelming. Remember the Netflix documentary a few years back that was telling us eggs were bad for you??! I mean what are we supposed to eat people??!

This is just a friendly little reminder that you don't have to this insane exercise routine and stringent diet to see results.... what you need to see results is consistency, the drive to want to get better and allow yourself to get uncomfortable. You get better when you're out of your comfort zone and that applies to exercise or saying yes to that thing you're scared of.

Ps, I'm still working on this whole blog thing and being vulnerable and authentic. I am all about gorgeous curated photos but just don't have that part of blogging nailed down yet. So, here is a photo of me doing what I love.... lifting weights. I feel like my best self when I'm working with a barbell and just outright sweaty.

Making the switch to natural deodorant

There are certain things we do day-to-day that we don't really consider how it affects our health. The past couple of years I've been more aware of all the chemicals I'm putting on my body. This day and age it's next to impossible to cut it all out completely but I've been doing my best to at least cut back. I used to assume that since you could purchase something from a store you trust that it's a safe product to use on your body or use in your home. Man, was I really wrong! One of my goals in 2019 is to swap out much of my chemical ridden products in my home for more natural alternatives. Two of the biggest offenders in my opinion are deodorant and laundry detergents.

Not to go all scientific on you all but every day cleaning products, lotions, makeup, shampoos and deodorant all have chemicals that contain endocrine disrupting chemicals. This can cause major issues with your hormones such as over production. As I'm typing this I'm totally seeing images of SNL and the Debbie Downer skit.....wah wahhhhhhhhhhh. The good news is there are so many amazing products that have ingredients that are actually good for you and not harmful to your overall health.

If you are going to swap out one of your products you use on your body I would for sure start with a natural deodorant. Your skin ecosystem under your armpits is so jacked up from years of chemical laden deodorant/antiperspirants and those pores need to breathe! The aluminum blocks your pores therefore you can't sweat. And I know you're thinking but Lindsey... isn't that the point of deodorant?? Yes, that's what we've been taught but have you ever thought what happens inside your body when that sweat and toxins can't be released and it's just building up in your body. I mean we've all heard "sweating out the toxins" after an extra fun night of a cocktail or two so why would we want to prohibit our bodies natural process of sweat??

Earlier this year I gave natural deodorant a try and landed on the brand Native. I'm a sucker for great packaging but ultimately it's the product itself that has kept me coming back. First off the ingredient list is minimal (no aluminum and paraben free) and the scents are so yummy. Their most popular scent is the coconut vanilla but my favorite so far is the cucumber mint. There's definitely a transition period and process to switching from a regular deodorant to a natural deodorant. Via the Native website it says that it takes about 2 weeks for your body to rid itself of the aluminum and other harmful chemicals and then at that point your body should be adjusted enough to work properly with your new natural deodorant. I've read some comments that when people switch to natural deodorant that they experience bumps which is apparently from the baking soda. I experienced a little bit of this and honestly did a transition period of no deodorant at all for a week and then used Native every other day for a week and then straight to regular daily use after that. I'm now six months in and am happy I made the switch. I've even turned Mark into a natural deodorant user and he says he prefers it over what he used to use. We also use Native body wash and are equally obsessed.

10 pieces of advice to boss up your workouts and your mind

 For the next 6 weeks I'm hosting what I like to call a "fitness experience" at my home gym for a group of 10 women. I came up with rules for the group that will be like our code of conduct. I really wanted this program to be a safe space to show up, give it your all and leave feeling like you had accomplished something big that day. I knew I had the tools to train the women for physical improvement but it was also important to train their brains to realize that working out isn't punishment, movement is a gift and that being "skinny" is no longer relevant. I encourage you all to work these into your daily life and leave me a comment of something you would add to this list. 

1. Community over competition.

2. Speak nice to yourself.

3. Get comfortable being uncomfortable.

4. Stand in your greatness and OWN it. 

5. The only way to refer to your body is fit. Words such as skinny or fat are no longer part of your vocabulary.

6. Show up and be present. 

7. Exercise is not punishment for what you ate. It’s a celebration of what your body is capable of achieving.

8. Exhale the bullshit. 

9. Being able to move your body is a gift…be grateful for something most take for granted. 

10. HAVE FUN!!! (my life motto)

Ice Age Meals Review

Happy Wednesday friends! Life has been really busy for us at the 'ol Stavely homestead which means meal planning and cooking has been somewhat non-existent. I've been busy at the store with engagement season, styled wedding photo shoots and a HUGE bridal event that I have coming up with Tesori. Long story short, cooking has been put on the back burner! Mark and I really don't like to eat out during the week so Ice Age Meals has literally been a lifesaver.  I was skeptical at first when we came across Ice Age Meals... Mark couldn't convince me that a frozen meal could actually be healthy and tasty.  After a month or so of scrolling their website we finally pulled the trigger.

The benefits of these meals are that they are properly portioned with the right amount of fats, carbs and proteins according to the zone diet. Obviously each persons needs differ based on their goals so you may need more or less food depending on what you're trying to accomplish. All of the food they use in the meals are non GMO, gluten and dairy free. While not every ingredient is organic they are all fresh. I love that the owner of Ice Age Meals, Paleo Nick, as he calls himself says that anytime he adds a new meal to the site he cooks the meal up for his family first to taste test.

You order the meals directly from their website and can do packages that they preselect for you or you can build a box. I recommend building a box so you can choose exactly which meals you prefer. The minimum amount of meals you can order at a time is 14. Sounds like a lot of meals but you'll go through them quickly. They ship the meals directly to your door and come packed in dry ice. From the time of ordering the meals they take about 2-3 business days to arrive to your doorstep.

Reheat in the microwave for quickest cooking and voila! The tastiest and healthiest meal you've ever had. SERIOUSLY! The first meal I heated up and pulled out of the microwave I was shocked that it looked like real food cooked in my own kitchen which was refreshing. Each meal we've had is a major flavor bomb and much tastier than anything I would prepare. Let's just say Mark didn't marry me for my cooking abilities 😂 I'm not going to lie...the only reason you see us adding avocado in the picture below was for color. The meals really don't need anything added to them.

We've tried almost all the meals and so far our top 3 favorites have been the butternut squash lasagna, pastel de papa, and chipotle turkey chili with butternut. My least favorite was the thai meatball curry and it's not that it wasn't edible or "bad" I just didn't enjoy the flavors as much. Mark and I try to hide our favorites at the bottom of the freezer from each other because the obsession is real in our house!

50 shades of pink


Happy Valentine's day my loves! I'm not going to lie... I love V-day. Not because of the flowers and chocolates but really just because it's a silly holiday and I'll use any excuse to celebrate the people I love! Mark and I usually celebrate by just spending time together instead of buying gifts so we're planning a fancy dinner and getting all dressed up.  And for a Wednesday, that's pretty wild for us! You can typically find us at home during the week relaxing and whipping up something fairly healthy for dinner. I can't wait to hear what everyone else has planned for Valentine's Day! I love that this holiday has turned into more than just celebrating with your significant other. I can totally get behind this whole Galentine's thing.

Since Mark and I don't usually do gifts I figured I could treat myself to something I need want. Right now, I'm ALL about the head-to-toe monochromatic look whether I'm headed out for a night on the town or hitting up the gym... it always seems so chic to me. And did you know that dressing in one tone is slimming?! BONUS! This look is so versatile because you can mix and match pieces in with regular clothing and can totally wear this to yoga class or take it out to brunch with your girlfriends. SMELLS yeah! How to care for your athletic clothes + keep them stink free.

These days we all wear our athletic clothes for MUCH more than just working out therefore I don't mind investing a little more moolah in them.  I've ruined so many of my athletic/performance based clothing because the fabric requires a little extra loving.  I've rounded up some of my favorite products to preserve your favorite pair of yoga pants or that sports bra that fits justttt right. (((On a side note: I don't put on "real" pants unless I absolutely have to so this whole athleisure trend was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.)))

Wash immediately after wear:

I'm just going to throw this out there...and I hope we're in the NO judgement zone. BUT(pun intended), I sweat mostly in what I like to call my under carriage areas 🙆 therefore I like to wash my workout clothes ASAP. I don't think I need to get in the nitty-gritty details but can we all just agree to wash our sweaty clothes instead of leaving them in the clothes hamper for 2 weeks like you do a pair of jeans. K, Thanks!

Mesh/Lingerie Bag:

If you don't have a lingerie bag for your laundry you NEED one. You can use this from everything from delicate panties(still can't say this word with a serious face) to a sweater you don't want snagged in the wash. I mainly use it to protect my workout clothes that have mesh panels from harsher fabrics, zippers, etc.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Yes, you read that right! Apple cider vinegar not only is good for your metabolism but it also gets that musty, sweaty, stench out of clothing and towels. This sounds crazy but I put this in almost every load of laundry I do. It works!

Slow down on the laundry softner:

Downy is one of my favorite things in life. But, it's terrible for your performance fabric clothing. It breaks down the integrity of the fibers and overtime stops the fabric from doing whatever it's supposed to do A.K.A wicking abilities.

Gentle laundry detergent:

I use a special laundry detergent from The Laundress that I use only on my workout clothes. It seriously smells like sunshine and unicorns! And bonus, it's not tested on animals and is nontoxic, biodegradable AND allergen free. I didn't want to like it because I didn't want to use different detergents for my laundry but it's totally worth it. You can also use this on swimwear and it got that weird chlorine smell out of all my suits too.

Invest in a drying rack:

Never ever ever dry your workout clothes. It breaks down the fabric and shrinks them and the last thing I need is a TIGHTER sports bra. No thank you! You can purchase a rack for $20 or less at if you needed another excuse to go to Target. 🙌

Full Body Firecracker Workout

Happy [almost] 4th of July!  Every year we head to the lake to visit my cousin and her family sometime around the's our tradition and we look forward to it. This year is no different and I've been planning my snacks and sides for several days now that I'll be taking. I wish I could say it was healthy but if I'm being honest it's all junk food and I'm okay with that! It's a little thing I like to call balance. I'm all about a good food splurge when it comes to holidays but one thing I always try to stick to is getting a workout in. I know I won't be eating clean, healthy and whole foods but what I can control is burning some extra calories and get a good sweat session in. It's easy to make excuses to not workout over holidays because of time and especially because of travel. That's why I LOVE no equipment workouts you can literally do from anywhere. Full Body Firecracker Workout:

Circuit 1:
30 air squats
20 tricep dips
10 burps
x 3


Circuit 2:
30 mountain climbers (each leg)
20 donkey kicks (each leg)
15 fire hydrants (each leg)
x 3


Circuit 3:
30 russian twists (each side)
20 curtsey lunges (each side)
10 push ups


30 second plank (left side)
30 second - 1 minute plank (middle)
30 second plank (right side)
(Rest 30-45 seconds between each round of abs)
